Two Women Break 30 Minutes at Prague Grand Prix 10KPublished by
All-Time List Rewritten at Prague Grand Prix 10KBy Adam Kopet The all-time list for the road 10K saw some significant changes Saturday night at the Prague Grand Prix 10K. Sheila Chepkirui and Geoffrey Koech will be remembered as the winners, but their places on the all-time lists may last longer. Kenya dominated the event, taking the top nine spots in the men's race and the top six spots in the women's race. The women's race saw two women break 30 minutes, the second and third women to do so on record-eligible courses. Chepkirui and Dorcas Jepchumba Kimeli finished in identical times of 29:57, with Chepkirui earning the victory by a stride. They missed the world record of 29:43, set by Joyciline Jepkosgei at the 2017 Prague Grand Prix 10K. Finishing behind the front pair was Norah Jeruto, running 30:07. That time now ranks her sixth all-time. Fancy Chemutai, the runner-up the past two years, finished fourth in 30:37. The men's race was not as close at the end, but it was just as fast. Koech won in 27:02, placing him equal to Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie for fourth on the all-time list. Matthew Kimeli finished five seconds back of Koech, running 27:07. That ranks him seventh on the all-time list. Bravin Kipkogei Kiptoo finished third in 27:11, equal to 10th on the all-time list. More news
